The Crime Branch has arrested Tarak Arolkar, the Councillor of the Mapusa Municipal Council, in connection with an alleged land fraud case involving Rs 40 lakh. According to the complaint, Arolkar sold a plot of land situated in Asagao, Bardez, claiming it was his own property. However, despite receiving the money from the buyer, he repeatedly failed to execute the official sale deed for the land transaction.

The victim had been persistently requesting the execution of the sale deed, but received no proper response from Arolkar. Subsequent police investigations revealed that the sale deed documents in Arolkar's name were forged. Following these findings, the Crime Branch took him into custody for further questioning, and he currently remains in police detention.
