Goa Police have initiated legal action against approximately 300 unidentified individuals who participated in a protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in Panaji on October 11. The case follows a complaint alleging that certain slogans raised during the demonstration could hurt Hindu religious sentiments and create communal tension.

Panaji Police confirmed that an FIR had been registered under Sections 196 and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The allegations relate to promoting enmity between religious groups and deliberately offending religious feelings.

The complaint was lodged by Ramprasad Kelkar, a Taleigao resident, who referred to a video of the demonstration shared on social media. He alleged that some participants raised slogans targeting Hindutva during a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
