AAP Working President and Chinchinim-Deussua Sarpanch Gerson Gomes was allegedly attacked by Malcolm Pereira inside the panchayat office. Gomes was initially admitted to Balli PHC and, following a deterioration in his condition, is being shifted to the District Hospital for further treatment.  •  Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar departed from Dabolim Airport after attending the Western Zonal Council Meeting in Goa.  •  Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Rajnikant Patel arrived in Goa to attend the 28th Western Zonal Council Meeting. Gujarat Minister for Energy & Petrochemicals Rushikesh Ganeshbhai Patel also arrived for the meeting.  •  Valpoi Police have arrested 26-year-old GIM student Sukanya Sabbhani for allegedly attacking her roommate with a knife while she was sleeping in their hostel room at Poriem, Sattari. The victim reportedly suffered serious cut injuries to her neck and hands. The accused has been remanded to 5 days of police custody.  •  The High Court has issued notices to the Goa government, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority and other respondents over a PIL challenging alleged CRZ violations, unauthorised construction and destruction of coastal sand dunes at Candolim. The petition alleges Survey No. 112/19 was commercially converted into the luxury resort “King’s Mansion.”  •  Water supply will be restricted in St. Cruz, Taleigao, Ribandar (Panaji) and Bambolim (St. Andre) on Sept 8, from 8 AM to 8 PM, due to urgent interconnection work near the Health Centre, Merces.  •  Amit Shah says the government has adopted a “reverse investigation” model to dismantle drug networks—tracing even a single seized packet back to its source, while large border consignments are tracked down to their intended end-users.  •  Union Home Minister Amit Shah said a model for dedicated anti-narcotics task forces was shared with all states and UTs, while a Joint Coordination Committee was formed in 2019 to bring central agencies, states and departments together.
