A Goa delegation is scheduled to meet Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta in New Delhi today to discuss the legal course of action concerning political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in the State.
The meeting comes after the Goa government decided to explore challenging the High Court order that stayed the process related to ST political reservation.
BJP Goa Vice-President Narendra Sawaikar said the delegation would discuss various legal aspects of the matter with Mehta, including the possibility of approaching the Supreme Court against the High Court order.
The discussions are expected to focus on the available legal remedies and the next steps required to move the ST reservation issue forward.
The meeting assumes significance as the demand for political reservation for the ST community in Goa ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections remains a key issue.
