After Prudent Media highlighted the issue of damaged wheat/rice being supplied through Fair Price Shops, the Ponda Civil Supplies Department has directed all FPS dealers not to sell or distribute any wet, spoiled or otherwise unfit stock to beneficiaries; department has ordered that damaged stock be immediately reported, segregated and replaced to ensure beneficiaries receive their entitled quota.  •  GPCC President Girish Chodankar said that he has called Viresh Borkar and Valmiki Naik for alliance talks. “Yesterday they were busy, so in the coming two days we will sit and discuss,”; On Vijai Sardesai, Girish said that alliance has been kept on hold, and hence no discussions have taken place with him.  •  Court grants bail to Meshu D’Costa and Dattaraj Raut Dessai in connection with an FIR alleging confrontation, threats and obstruction of police personnel on duty at Sanguem Police Station.  •  In the matter concerning the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that was unlawfully installed on Mormugao Port Authority property at Sada, Goa govt stated before the High Court that, 'in principle, it agrees the statue should be relocated to govt land, process is going on to identify a suitable relocation site, Two to three potential sites have been identified, but no final decision has been taken. The court granted the Goa govt time to finalise a site by the next hearing. The matter is adjourned to 25 August.  •  Cuncolim Police have registered a theft case following a complaint by Pravin Kakode, owner of Upgrade Enterprises at IDC, Cuncolim.
