The High Court has quashed and set aside the decisions of the North Goa District Election Officer and the Goa Chief Electoral Officer rejecting the Form-8 applications filed by St. Cruz resident Paresh Salgaonkar and five members of his family during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive.

The court has directed the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to include the names of all six petitioners in the electoral roll.

The High Court also rejected the Election Commission of India's (ECI) request to stay the order to enable it to challenge the decision.

The ruling comes in the petition challenging the rejection of the family's applications and their consequent non-inclusion in the electoral roll following the SIR exercise.
