Aam Aadmi Party and Goa Forward Party together have put up posters and hoardings across Goa with a united appeal to Goans: “Congress and BJP cheated you twice. Don’t let them cheat you a third time.”  •  AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on X, “Am going to Goa today to make a very big announcement.”  •  The 161-day sit-in protest against the Mega project at Carapur has been called off after the Karapur Sarvan Panchayat issued a “stop work” notice to the project. Protesters, however, said their opposition to the project remains unchanged and the legal battle will continue. They warned of renewed protests if required.  •  Calangute MLA Michael Lobo says ongoing delimitation could make elections difficult during the process, while stressing that the government must follow the High Court’s orders. He suggested combining delimitation with a caste-wise survey across Goa or India.  •  Mapusa Additional Sessions Court rejects Tarun Tejpal’s plea seeking more time to surrender. Consequently, Tejpal has submitted that he will surrender before the Colvale Jail authorities on September 14, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s direction. Tejpal was convicted by the High Court of raping a junior colleague in 2013 and sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment.  •  The Mapusa Special PMLA Court has extended the judicial custody of alleged land-grab mastermind Siddique Khan, alias Suleman Khan, on an application moved by the Enforcement Directorate. The ED also disclosed that on September 9, 2026, it issued a provisional attachment order covering four prime properties with an aggregate fair market value of Rs 278.16 crore.  •  GPCC President Girish Chodankar met Tamil Nadu Minister Aadhav Arjuna and followed up on the proposal for allotment of suitable land at Velankanni for a Goa House. Chodankar also handed over the Christian Association of Goa’s detailed proposal for the project and said the facility would provide accommodation, basic amenities and assistance to Goans visiting the pilgrimage destination.  •  Anticipatory bail plea of Malcolm Pereira rejected in connection with the alleged assault of Chinchinim-Deussa Sarpanch Gerson Gomes.  •  Goa Forward Party President approves immediate dissolution of the Curchorem Block Committee; Dattaraj Raut Dessai relieved as Joint Secretary and removed from GFP’s primary membership with immediate effect.  •  GSIDC has proposed a new government complex at Mapusa Morod that will bring various government offices in Mapusa under one roof. In this episode of Goa Connect as we chat with Girish Kelekar, Dilip Borkar & Sainath Parab on the documentary film on the life of Padmabhushan Ravindra Kelekar who was honoured with first Sahitya Akademi, first Jhanpith & first fellow of Sahitya Akademi in Konkani language. Ravindra’Bab was a noted Indian author who wrote primarily in the Konkani language, though he also wrote in Marathi and Hindi. A Gandhian activist, freedom fighter and a pioneer in the modern Konkani movement, he was a well known Konkani scholar, linguist, and creative thinker. Kelekar was a participant in the Indian freedom movement, Goa's liberation movement, and later the campaign against the merger of the newly formed Goa with Maharashtra. He played a key role in the founding of the Konkani Bhasha Mandal, which lead the literary campaign for the recognition of Konkani as a full-fledged language, and its reinstatement as the state language of Goa.
