A fresh petition has been filed in the High Court, seeking directions to the State Election Commission (SEC) to quash and set aside its 9 September notification on the delimitation of municipal wards. In its submission, the SEC stated that the delimitation was notified without consultation with the Goa government. Fixing the matter for hearing on Wednesday, the High Court has issued notices to the SEC and the state government.  •  CJP chief Dipke said the earlier plan to begin a protest from Goa has been changed. People seeking to raise their voice for systemic change have been invited to Azad Maidan on October 11, where four suggestion boxes will be placed to collect public concerns and recommendations for resolution.  •  Adv. Gaurish Agni, representing the CEC, told the Bombay High Court at Goa that the SIR process was conducted as per prescribed guidelines and that all supporting evidence was presented before the court. The hearing will continue tomorrow in the petition filed by voter Paresh Salgaonkar challenging the removal of his and his family members’ names from the electoral roll.  •  All accused in the Birch Fire Case were produced before the JMFC Court in Mapusa today. Meanwhile, accused Ajay Gupta has filed a bail application before the court. Further proceedings in the case are awaited.  •  All accused in the Mapusa NCB drug case have been remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody, while the agency has arrested another accused, identified as Prajot. Further investigation is underway.  •  Goa Forest Department revises compensation for human casualties caused by wild animals: Rs 15 lakh for death, Rs 7.5 lakh for permanent disability, Rs 2 lakh for grievous/partial disability and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries.  •  Chief Minister Pramod Sawant held discussions with BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) Shiv Prakash and BJP Goa State Incharge Dr Bharati Pawar at the BJP headquarters on Kadamba Plateau. The meeting focused on organisational matters and reviewing the progress of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and outreach efforts in Goa.  •  All accused in the Porvorim shootout case have been remanded to 10 days’ judicial custody.
